Graduate Support Hosts First-Gen Workshop For Area Counselors

Supporting first-generation students and students with diverse documentation statuses comes with a unique set of challenges for high school, college, and financial aid counselors. To help our programming team and other area counselors navigate those challenges, we hosted an online workshop led by Felipe Martinez, former Immigrant Student Advisor and Senior Student Advisor with the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis. The turnout was fantastic. Over 30 professionals from our partner schools and across the region logged in as Martinez shared important knowledge, best practices, and fresh insights on how to be an effective student-centered advocate. Thanks to Felipe and all those who attended and were part of this important conversation. We hope everyone found it as informative as we did.
