Access Seniors Brave Cold to File FAFSA Applications

Despite frigid temps and a glitchy new FAFSA filing system, we’re happy to report that our 2nd Annual FAFSA Frenzy was a huge success. Held last weekend at Saint Louis University, 34 Access seniors and their families braved the cold to submit their federal college financial aid applications. In addition to our College & Career team and Graduate Support Directors, volunteers from TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers guided each student and their parents through the filing process and offered one-on-one assistance in both English and Spanish. We also enjoyed bagels, coffee, and Pharaohs Donuts in the morning, and Pickleman’s sandwiches for lunch!

Thank you to all who attended and volunteered, including our Access work-study students Chandler Flowers (SLU ’27, SLUH ’23), Hailey Cryer (SLU ’26, Rosati-Kain Academy ’22), and Jalia Mosby (Harris-Stowe State University ’26, Cardinal Ritter College Prep ’22). They assisted with check-in, directed families to their assigned rooms, and helped things run smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without them!
