Collegian Update: Mckenzie Renfroe, Tuskegee University
Mckenzie Renfroe (Lutheran North ’23) is a Boniface Scholar and first-year student at Tuskegee University. She’s an animal science major, with an emphasis on pre-veterinary medicine, and a member of the Pre-Vet Club, Animal Care and Rescue Club, and MANARRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Science). All of these groups, she says, have provided valuable connections, potential internship opportunities, and scholarships.
“Through Pre-Vet, I had the chance to attend a veterinarian symposium at North Carolina State University where I toured the vet school and networked with reps from other potential vet schools,” says Mckenzie. “And in the Animal Care and Rescue Club, I’ve been able to get more hands-on experience with animals as a volunteer at a local shelter. Overall, the clubs have helped me step out of my comfort zone and try new things.”
She adds, “So far, I’ve enjoyed attending Tuskegee University, and I’m excited to see what’s to come.” We wish her the best as the semester winds down and she heads into finals!
