2020 Summer Scholars Program Goes Virtual

For over a decade, rising juniors and seniors from Access Academies have gained valuable exposure to college by participating in the Summer Scholars Program. Students spend a week on the Saint Louis University campus experiencing college life while attending invaluable seminars on the admissions process, financial aid, essay writing, and ACT preparation. The goal is simple: Prepare our students — many of whom will be first-gen — for the lengthy process of applying to, and succeeding in, college.

This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the program has gone virtual. And while students won’t sleep in the dorms or eat in the dining hall, they’ll still participate in career exploration, engage in ACT prep, hear from college admissions officers, learn about grants and scholarships from St. Louis Scholarship Central, and begin preparing their college applications and scholarship essays. We’re excited to see the program continue despite the extenuating circumstances and know our high school students will benefit greatly from the program, even if they won’t attend in person.

This year’s week-long virtual Summer Scholars Program will take place from June 15 to June 19.
