Bellarmine Speech League Judges
School in Need: SLK
Talent: Students in grade 5-8 develop and improve their public speaking skills by participating in speech competitions. Judge are needed to grade and give feedback on speeches.
Grades: 5-8
Timeframes: evenings and weekends, varies by competition
Preferred Commitment: Flexible

Career Talks
Schools in Need: STC, MHT, SLK
Talent: Volunteer shares educational and career experiences with students. Presentations occur during weekly assemblies or during enrichment classes.
Grades: 6-8
Timeframes: MHT – Wednesdays 12:50 – 1:10; STC – Monday through Thursday, 2:30 – 4:30; SLK – Monday through Thursday, 3:00 – 5:00
Preferred Commitment: Flexible

Coaching
Schools in Need: STC, MHT, SLK
Talent: Coaching skills, working with young people, team building/organization
Grades: 3-4; 5-6; 7-8
Timeframe: Bi-weekly practices; games on weekends
 Basketball (November – March) Practices after school/early evening
 Volleyball (August – November) Practices after school/early evening
Preferred Commitment: consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of volunteer

Classroom Sponsor
Schools in Need: STC, MHT, SLK
Talent: Volunteer assists and supports classroom teachers as needed. For example: attending field trips and providing student supervision; helping with class parties; recess helper; etc. Opportunities vary by grade level.
Grades: K-8
Timeframe: varies; Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 5:00
Preferred Commitment: consistent communication with classroom teacher

Mentoring
Schools in Need: MHT, STC, SLK
Talent: Volunteer provides one-on-one time with students to support social skills and relationship building. Teachers provide content and resources for volunteers to support individual skill building with students.
Grades: K-8
Timeframes: Monday – Friday, 3:30 – 5:30
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.

Oasis Tutoring
School in Need: SLK
Talent: The OASIS program provides adults age 50 and older with opportunities to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives through an inter-generational tutoring program.
Grades: K-8
Timeframes: Will vary depending upon volunteer
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.
*Note* - special outside training by OASIS staff is required. 

Reading Buddies
School in Need: MHT
Talent: Volunteer reads one-on-one with students during library hours (Monday and Friday) or to a class during classroom story time. MHT teachers provide content and resources for volunteers to support student’s reading and social goals.
Grades: K-5
Timeframes: Mondays 8:45 – 2:45
 Fridays 8:45 – 2:45
 Varies by class 9:00 – 2:00
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.


Recess Volunteer
School in Need: SLK
Talent: School needs volunteers to help out in the office and on the playground during recess supervising children.
Grades: K-8
Timeframes: Monday – Friday, 12:00 – 12:45
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.

Tutoring
Schools in Need: STC, MHT, SLK
Talent: Volunteer provides one-on-one assistance with reading, math or study skills. Teachers provide content and resources for volunteers to support individual skill building with students.
Grades: K-8
Timeframes: Varies by school 
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.

Volunteer Aide
School in Need: SLK
Talent: Volunteers needed to assist teachers in the classroom with small groups.
Grades: K-2
Timeframes: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 3:00
Preferred Commitment: Consistent time and day(s) of the week at the discretion of the volunteer.
